New England Clam Chowder Soup
One of the earliest and quintessential American dishes, New England-style clam chowder is a creamy stew made with briny clams, chunks of bacon, sweet onions, potatoes, and milk. The dish was invented by the Pilgrims who had landed near Plymouth Rock in 1620

👨🍳 Serves: 4-6
Ingredients 🛒:
- 🦀 1 lb fresh clams (or canned clams)
- 🥔 4 large potatoes (peeled and diced)
- 🧅 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 🌱 2 celery stalks (chopped)
- 🥓 4 slices of beef bacon (optional)
- 🧈 2 tbsp butter
- 🧂 1 tsp thyme
- 🥛 2 cups heavy cream
- 🥄 1 cup milk
- 🧂 Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions 📋:
- Prepare Clams:
- If using fresh clams, steam and chop. (5 minutes)
- Cook Beef Bacon (optional):
- In a large pot, cook bacon until crispy. Remove and crumble. (7 minutes)
- Sauté Veggies:
- In the same pot, sauté onions and celery in butter until softened. (5 minutes)
- Add Potatoes & Liquids:
- Add potatoes, clams, cream, and milk. Simmer until potatoes are tender. (20 minutes)
- Season:
- Stir in thyme, salt, and pepper. Add crumbled bacon if using. (3 minutes)
- Serve:
- Let simmer for 5 more minutes, and serve hot! (5 minutes)
