She-Crab Soup

Ingredients Needed for She-Crab Soup

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 🦀 She-Crab Meat: 300g (fresh or canned)
  • 🧈 Butter: 2 tbsp
  • 🧅 Onion: 1 medium, chopped
  • 🧄 Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
  • 🥕 Carrot: 1 large, diced
  • 🌽 Corn: 1 cup, fresh or frozen
  • 🥣 Chicken or Seafood Broth: 4 cups
  • 🧂 Salt and Pepper: To taste
  • 🌿 Thyme: 1 tsp
  • 🥄 Old Bay Seasoning: 1 tbsp
  • 🥛 Heavy Cream: 1 cup
  • 🧀 Sherry or White Wine: 1/4 cup (optional)
  • 🌱 Bay Leaves: 2
  • 🍋 Lemon Juice: 1 tbsp
  • 🌿 Fresh Parsley: Chopped, for garnish

🕒 Instructions:

  1. Sauté the Veggies (⏱️ 5 minutes):
    • In a large pot, melt 🧈 butter over medium heat. Add 🧅 onion, 🧄 garlic, and 🥕 carrot. Sauté until softened (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add Broth and Spices (⏱️ 5 minutes):
    • Pour in the 🥣 chicken or seafood broth. Add 🧂 salt, pepper, 🌿 thyme, 🥄 Old Bay seasoning, and 🌱 bay leaves. Stir and bring to a boil.
  3. Simmer the Soup (⏱️ 25 minutes):
    • Reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, until vegetables are tender and flavors are well combined.
  4. Add She-Crab Meat (⏱️ 5 minutes):
    • Add 🦀 she-crab meat and cook for 5 minutes until heated through.
  5. Finish with Cream and Lemon (⏱️ 5 minutes):
    • Stir in 🥛 heavy cream, 🍋 lemon juice, and (optional) 🧀 sherry or white wine. Simmer for an additional 3-5 minutes until creamy and smooth.
  6. Serve and Garnish:
    • Remove the bay leaves. Ladle soup into bowls and garnish with 🌿 fresh parsley.
